BYPASS LINE CONNECTION

Old piping at Labugama Water
Works comprises of ductile cast
iron. It was necessary to by pass the
present DI pipes in order to install
new Filters.
The installation of By-pass line is
very critical due to the shortage of
water once the system is shut down
for longer period of time. The work
very stringent and it had to be done
within about 24 hours.
Any conventional welding is risky
due to the difficulties encountered
in cast iron welding. More over we
had to match different diameters
using VJ coupling as well. Hence the
modification of pipe diameter to
suit the connection pipes using cold
welding method. The project was
successfully completed
